My Christmas Eve Dinner

This is probably my last blog of 2008, so I thought I'd describe to you my glorious Christmas Eve dinner, complete with pictures. That's right. I'm just SO cool like that.

Here is a wonderful picture of our place settings before the food is laid out.

Here is a picture of our first course -- this salad was amazing. It had mixed lettuce and greens with onions and sliced strawberries (which complimented it surprisingly well) and a sweet homemade poppy seed dressing, which was amazing.

Here is my choice dinner beverage. In case you can't figure it out, it's water, but I did also have a cup of homemade raspberry sherbet punch, which you can see in the corner of the photo.

Here is our second "course"... basically just what was handed out and eaten quickly after the salad and before the main course.

And, our final course, the main meal. It was lasagna, probably my least favorite Italian dish, but it was still delicious.

And for good measure, here is a picture I took of our Christmas loot before any of it was opened. All the presents put there before Christmas, and the gifts from parents to kids go in the back, and the Santa gifts usually come in big boxes in identical wrapping paper, which is always very fancy and colorful.

Well, anyway, I hope all of you have a fantastic New Year, and I hope you HAD a wonderful Christmas... I'm not exactly looking forward to the New Year, as our first biggies will be FINALS, which I'm not looking forward to (Darn you Spanish and Geometry!!!). However, I am going to go to bed early tonight and sleep in and be happy. Happy New Year everybody!

I Met Jacob Black!

Now, this actually happened over Thanksgiving break, but I hadn't been able to transfer pictures to my computer until now, so I finally am going to tell you my story!!

So, we're driving back home from Reno, Nevada and we're going through this like 300-population town. We pull into a diner for lunch, but as we're driving out, we pass this truck that has these two dogs in it. One looks like a chocolate lab, but the other looked so scary, that I had to snap a picture! He genuinely looked like a werewolf! He was shaggy and huge, with large ears. But the scariest part was that he had BRIGHT GOLDEN EYES. We're talking Edward Cullen gold, okay?

Here are the two pictures I snapped of him. (Some people thought that the first picture looked like it was simply a photo of a dog pasted onto the back windshield, but the second will show you that it is definitely NOT!!

Ugh.

It turns out that our harddrive crashed. So, we lost everything. All the saved Sims games, the last 2 years worth of pictures (including trips, color guard tournaments, and pix of people I never even get to see anymore . . .), any Sony Vegas vids I was working on . . . in fact, the only videos I have now are the ones posted on YouTube, and the ones on my iPod. Luckily, by the sheer work of God, I had just transferred all my writing onto a flash drive about two weeks before it crashed, so I still have all of that, thank God... but I have so much stuff. I would have had a total breakdown if I had lost all of that. You have no idea how many videos I was almost done with, and how hard and how long I had been working on them . . . oh yeah, and we lost all our music from iTunes. The only music we now have is the music on our iPods. I don't even want to think about the money we've lost.

So... it kind of puts a damper on the whole holiday break thing. Not to mention the fact that it has rendered the photo album I got for Christmas virtually useless... and the new Sims 2 expansion pack... but the album even more so. Also, I'm not sure if Sony Vegas will let me put it on another computer because they are REALLY anal about their stuff with the whole registration and activation codes and blah blah blah... they're sort of in kahoots with Neopets and Disney in the whole "ripping off" area...

But, we bought The Dark Knight and Kung Fu Panda today, as well as the new Hilary Duff perfume WHICH I got for 20 bucks, thank you very much, and I even had some money left on my JC Penney card!

It's been a very bittersweet past few days.

Anyway... think of something happy to cheer me up.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! I was going to blog yesterday, but I never got the chance!

Well, my Christmas was wonderful. Three of my friends called me to wish me a happy 16th birthday, which DID NOT INCLUDE Ben or Anastasia. I am sickened.

Anyway, as for my Christmas loot. I got Guitar Hero 3! We've all been playing it all day. (And by we, I mean me, my parents, and our guests, which are my parents friends from college and their two daughters.) I also got Atonement by Ian McEwan, "Wall*E", "Ballet Shoes" (the movie with Emma Watson), a gold locket, a very pretty gold watch, a homemade jewelery set made by Jeselle, one of the "daughters" I talked about earlier. I also got an iTunes giftcard, a 50 dollar Barnes and Nobles gift card and a 30 dollar JC Penny's card (which I think is amazing, because JC Penny's is the ONLY place where I could find that perfume I wanted.) I also got Hermione Granger's Yule Ball earrings, which are quite lovely.

Tomorrow we're planning on going shopping, because I swear, I've got like 10 gift cards that are like burning a HOLE in my pocket. I'm thinking that I'm going to get "The Dark Knight."

Oh well, Merry Christmas!

Two Days Till Xmas!

Today, I got up... watched 2 episodes of Nanny 911. That show is really awful. I mean, the show is excellent, but the kids are awful. Usually the problem is the parents, though-- the mom is too naggy and the dad just wants to sit there and read the paper. That's usually what it is. But it's usually the moms that get on my nerves.

Anyway, yeah... so then I did that and I went upstairs to do this.

Well, we have guests coming tonight, which should be fun. It's my parent's friend from college and his wife and two daughters, and they're spending Christmas with us. After Chrismas we're going to go to Disneyland for two days, which will be super-dee-dooper exciting. Don't know if I should bring my letterman there though... on the one hand, it'll probably be cold, but I don't want it to be raining and get my hair all wet because I'd have to wear something with a hood underNEATH the letterman, and then I'd be afraid that it'd get too hot... and its not like I can wrap the jacket around my waist or anything because it weighs like 15 pounds.

Oh well. I know, my life is so horrible. I don't know how I'll go on. These are the woes of my troubled life.

Three Days Till Xmas

Woo-hoo!

Okay, right now I'm sitting in my dad's "man-cave". It rained again today. Pretty intense. My cat is sitting on this little couch next to me completely dead asleep.

Well, I started off my dad geting up, as all days start. I ate some Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal and watched "The World Is Not Enough" on USA... Ohhh!! Today I got my LETTERMAN!!! It's sooo wonderful and so comfy. I love it, but I don't want it to get wet... but whatever.

Last night I went to the mall, which was pretty intense. It was also kind of sad because it's probably the last trip to the mall I'll have while its still Christmasy there... unless they keep it up till New Years. So, I took my camera and took lots of pictures. I'm pretty sure people thought I was nuts. I had a pretzel, courtesy of Ben's wonderful gift card he bought me, but I also bought this AWESOME black dress for Christmas Eve, which is really cool.

I also was on this wild goose chase to find the "Wrapped With Love" perfume by Hilary Duff. I had looked EVERYWHERE for like the past week and hadn't been able to find it. I looked in Nordstroms, and Sears, and Target and Macy's and it was making me MADDD!!! But then, finally, I found it at JC Penny's, and it smelled really good! Oh, and I was just remembering something the other day... Ana, do you remember when we had a Robinson's May at our mall? That was like a LONG time ago. I don't even remember it. What's the point?

On Saturday night we went to go see Twilight again, which was pretty fun. My parents REALLY wanted to go, so I was like "Okay, whatever." I TRIED to invite Ana, but she wouldn't pick up her STUPID PHONE!!!!!!!! Grr. So, whatever. Ana, I was thinking you and me and Ben could get together and watch Chicken Run sometime. Like ... soon.

So, I've spent like the last half hour looking at pirated Twilight clips on YouTube(Hey, Ana, it's not like I pirated them...), but I'm bored now so I'm going to get up and embrace the day. (Haha, RIGHT. Like that's gonna happen.) No, actually I'm just going to go play video games. Haha. Bye!

The Hillywood Show

Wow! I cannot believe that I haven't blogged about this yet!

Well, last April, after watching Sweeney Todd for the first time, I was on YouTube looking at ST videos, and I discovered this "show" on YouTube called "The Hillywood Show". And what it is, it's these two sisters, Hillary and Hannah Hindi (one is 18 the other is about 20, but they are freakishly short, like 4 feet something, so they pull off about 15 or 16.) and they make parodies of Johnny Depp movies, and they string all these parodies into a continuous storyline so that it actually is like a show. But, (and I don't know how they do it) it is done VERY proffessionally. They have really nice cameras, AMAZING costumes and makeup, and good audio quality. It's surprisingly hard to explain, but you really just have to watch it for yourself.

The thing is, it's sort of hard to start watching, because the first two or three are kind of lame and not done with the same costume/makeup/storyline thing because they weren't that well-known back then, but once you hit episodes 4 and 5, they start getting really good and REALLY funny.

Here's episode 1.

And here is their site.

But their Sweeney Todd episode is really good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFuxX5LavBQ&feature=channel

I would reccomend watching the ST one first. ^^^^ Ben, Alex, I reccomend this for you!

Horrible Goodness

Today at dinner I had my mom finally watch Dr. Horrible. She said she liked it, but her reaction was horribly (haha, geddit) underwhelming compared to my dad's.

So, since my last entry was totally bogus, I decided to add something good. I have added one more thing to my Christmas list -- DR. HORRIBLE'S SING ALONG BLOG ON DVD!!!!! Yes, it's true, friends. Dr. Horrible is coming to DVD, complete with behind the scenes features and commentary!

In case having the movie isn't enough, you can have these spiffy things to wear whilst watching it. That's right -- Dr. Horrible shirts! They are pretty wonderful. I was thinking that the "I don't go to the gym, I'm just naturally like this," would be great for Robert, a friend of mine and Ana's, who is in freakishly good shape. Seriously. I punched him in the shin once (don't ask), and his leg literally is so hard it feels fake. I think I hurt myself more than I hurt him.

Anyway, happy shopping!

7 More Days!

With only a mere 7 days (that's ONE week, folks) until the big day (that's Christmas, folks), I figured I'd post my official Christmas list. Here it is.

~ Guitar Hero 3
~ iPod Touch (32gig)
~ Alice Cullen's Choker
~ The Sims 2: Kitchen and Bathroom Interior Design expansion pack
~ Chocolate-covered crabnerries from Starbucks
~ Paperback copy of Prisoner of Azkaban
~ Atonement by Ian McEwan
~ Wall*E
~ The Dark Knight
~ Ugs (like, the shoes) in tan
~ This shirt (http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/store/product.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302038087&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442188276&bmUID=1229209857156)
~ Hermione Granger's Yule Ball Earrings
~ "Ballet Shoes" (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ballet-Shoes-BBC-Emma-Watson/dp/B0010XFXCQ)
~ "My Boy Jack" (http://www.amazon.co.uk/My-Boy-Jack-Daniel-Radcliffe/dp/B000VA3JGQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1229564630&sr=1-1)

Yep, that's my Christmas list. OH! And I finally am able to get my letterman jacket. I had it ordered from Beed's Embroidery about a week ago, and today I finally got my letter from the band director. I brought it over to the shop, and they said they'd have it finished by tomorrow night or by Monday, but I really hope it's tomorrow because it is supposed to be cold and rainy this weekend. Anyway, I had my first name put in scripty font on the front, and my last name on the back, and my quote on the lower back of my jacket says "Carpe Diem", meaning "Seize the Day" in Latin. When I went back to give them my letter, I caught a glimpse of it, and it looks amazing. I am sooo anxious -- I can't wait. I was really nervous about getting the letter because if I didn't get it today or tomorrow, then I wouldn't have had a letterman jacket ALL CHRISTMAS BREAK, which would have been completely pointless. I would have liked to have it this week though, because it was really cold this week. Normally it gets about 80 at the end of school -- today it was 65 at the end of school. Man -- BRISK, I tell you.

Anyway, I've got 3 questions for you. Number 1, what are the top two things on your list? Number 2, what Christmas present (on my list) do you think I would like the most? And Number 3, what is your favorite part of the Christmas season?

Ciao! And Happy Holidays, Ana. :) Cuz I love you SO much. And Merry Christmas Ben. Cuz I don't love you that much. HAHA jk. I just know you celebrate Christmas. Okay, can I leave now?

Happy Holidays!

I read Anastasia's post on this, and just wanted to add my own opinion on this "issue".

First of all, I think the whole "Happy Holidays" thing is HIGHLY overrated. I can honestly say that if I was Jewish or Muslim or if I celebrated any other holiday besides Christmas, I wouldn't be offended if someone had the gall to wish me a Merry Christmas. First of all, if I was, say, Jewish, I would take their meaning to heart. Maybe they don't wish me a Merry CHRISTMAS, per se, but they mean that they want my winter season to be jolly and happy and what have you. Instead of people actually taking "Merry Christmas" to HEART, and appreciating somebody's kindness, people take it as a great offense. What has HAPPENED to the world? Do you know how many people don't even BOTHER to say ANYTHING to ANYONE this time of year?! Do you know that there are some people who don't get together with family or friends and spend their holidays alone? There are a lot more people like that than you might think. I think they would be just perfectly spiffy if someone wished them a happy ANYTHING.

All in all, I think we should stop focusing on the retarded (YES, Ana, I said RETARDED) "problems" and offensive crap and start worrying about being KIND to one another this season.

You Never Really Know a Person...

... until a moment of crisis. I love how it's Georgey who ends up having the mad ninja ducking skills, while the Secret Service just stand there like idiots until the guy is DONE throwing the shoe. And man, that guy standing next to him-- he certainly is not the brightest lightbulb at Home Depot.

People Suck

I tell you what, America SUCKS!!! People are not helpful at ALL. Zip, zilch, nada. NO GOOD.

(read below post before continuing)

So I went on Yahoo! Answers to ask if RC's really hurt as much as everybody says they do. I got some saying yes and some saying no. WTF. One girl simply said "yes very", but then again, her username was xxAngel of Deathxx. Another guy said I'd probably cry, and one girl (this is the whopper) said "OMG!! YES!! VERY!!!"

To see the complete list of unhelpfuls, click here.

I hate my life. IT'S CHRISTMAS FOR GOD'S SAKE!!!! SON OF A BISCUIT!!! WTF WHAT did I do to deserve this? Okay?! I BRUSH my teeth! So I don't floss TWENTY-THREE FRIKKIN TIMES A DAY!!! I asked all my friends, okay? NO ONE DOES. Why do I have such bad teeth?!?!!?!!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! IT'S NOT FAIRRRRRRRR.

Dentists Suck.

That's right, ladies and gentlemen. I officially have my first root canal. Well, I'm going to GET a root canal DONE on my tooth . . .it's second from the end in the top left hand side of my mouth.

So, in order to prepare, I found this detailed look into what I'm going to have to go through, and how sorry you guys are going to have to feel for me.

Wanna hear the worst part? They aren't putting me under. I have to stay awake the whole time. I had a cavity filled in two weeks ago (the tooth had started to ache, which was how I went into the dentist, where they told me I needed a root canal) and that was probably a half-hour. By the time it was over, I'd had to keep my mouth open so wide (because the tooth was way in the back) that my jaw was KILLING me. LITERALLY. It hurt SOO bad. This time, the procedure is an HOUR LONG. A WHOLE FREAKING HOUR. Do you know how unbelieveably AWFUL that's going to be? I'm so scared... plus, people make really big deals out of root canals, and how awful they are... I'm REALLY nervous.

Feel sorry for me.

Oh, Neil -- You Slay Me

Well, yesterday was a very "Neil Patrick Harris"-y day for me. First, my dad told me that he had seen Neil at the famous Magic Castle in Los Angeles when he went there last night, and then I found this amazing thing on YouTube called "Prop 8: The Musical" which has got to be one of the greatest things ever created.

LAVENDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Merry Christmas, Cuddy."

Oh my god! Wasn't the new House episode just AMAZING?!?!?!?! I always love the Christmas episodes of House (the xmas eppy of Season 3 is now going neck and neck with this season's).

Ugh, I bawled like a BABY at the end... I was so glad that Cuddy finally got her baby. Well, I mean as soon as you found out the baby had lived, you KNEW Cuddy was going to get it, but it was still so heart-wrenching!!!!!!!!! My favorite part was when House said, "Merry Christmas, Cuddy."

But, oh my god, the girl DIED!! How emo-ly depressing is THAT?!?!? But still . . .

I did love Wilson's "Irene" thing. I was like Who the buck is Irene?!?!? But it all worked out in the end. And I loved how Kutner went to apologize to his high school not-so-much-friend for being a bully. I love sweet Christmas messages that are actually good, instead of the cliche ones, like BE NICE.

For those of you who are interested, Hugh Laurie will be hosting Saturday Night Live this Saturday the 12th, which will be his first host since October of 2005 (or 2006, I can't remember.)

OH MY GOD!!
I JUST REALIZED I NEVER WATCHED LAST WEEK'S HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh well. Maybe it'll be something to do when I'm bored over break. Like I have time now anyway.

Me & My Mad Skillz

Here are some Twilight wallpaper-ish things that I created. Yes, in case any of you didn't know, I am a student by day, and mad graphix-maker by night. I'm also Superman by night as well, but we don't need to get into THAT...

Here's one that I am especially proud of: http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n244/jackSpArr0w2006/Twilightlambwallpaper.png

This one I had big hopes for, but it just didn't turn out like I had hoped. It's still worth mentioning, though: http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n244/jackSpArr0w2006/RosalieNothingtoher.png

This one I love -- I'm pretty proud of the coloring: http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n244/jackSpArr0w2006/Tilldeathdouspart.png

Anyway, in other news, I have now added a new thing to my Christmas list. My earbuds broke today, (or at least, I found them broken today...) and so I have now added new Skull candy ear buds to my list (in red this time, I've decided.)

Oh well.

Christmas Books for Pre-Teens

Yesterday, at Target, I was browsing through the book section looking for possible candidates to put on my Christmas list, when a very lost and hopeless-looking woman came up to me and asked, "Do you know anything about these pre-teen books? I'm looking for a book for an 11-year-old girl." (In case you are wondering, I suggested the book "Uglies" by Scott Westerfield, and warned her that "Twilight" was a good series, but most likely too mature for an 11-year-old girl.)

But, this all got me to thinking. Instead of scrambling to find a Wii in stock, or focusing on snatching one of those copies of Guitar Hero 3 before they sell out (yes, it's on my xmas list okay?!), here's some good book ideas for pre-teens.

Uglies by Scott Westerfield -- This book is really, really, good. I read them a few years ago and they are fantastic. The main character's name is Tally, and it takes place in a sort of futuristic world. When kids turn 16, they undergo a type of plastic surgery that makes them "Pretty". Very, very pretty. So, Tally is 15 and about to have this process performed on her, but her new friend Shay, is the typical rebel who doesn't WANT to turn pretty. And so Tally gets mixed up in the whole "running away" thing and it's all the angst and stuff -- it might sound lame, but it's REALLY cool. This book has two sequels, "Pretties" and "Specials".

A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray -- Unlike Uglies, this book is more for girls. It's a very mystical, witch-crafty type book that follows the life of Gemma, who has been sent from her home in Africa to a London boarding school in early 20th century England. She finds out that she has these visions of the future, almost, and she and her three friends, Felicity, Pippa and Anne find a way to enter the Realms, a type of magical land where they can become anyone they want to be. It's sort of Neverland-ish. It's kind of hard to explain, but it's really fascinating, and lots of girls would get a kick out of it and relate to all the catty, girlish situations that happen. This book also has two sequels called "Rebel Angels" and "The Sweet Far Thing."

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer -- Haha, no duh, right? In case you don't know what it's about, Twilight follows the story of 17-year-old Bella Swan, who moves from sunny Phoenix, Arizona to the rainy and isolated town of Forks, Washington. There she meets Edward Cullen, a mysterious and very good-looking boy that turns out to be a vampire. Unfortunately, it's a very tricky situation with this book. It has a lot of adult, sexual situations that take place, especially in its three sequels (New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn), and some mild violent scenes as well, making it a book more for 14 and up. However, if the girl is 14 and up and hasn't read these books, even just to see what they are like, she's probably not interested.

Eragon by Christopher Paolini -- Here we go, a nice book for guys. This book is very Lord-of-the-Rings-ish, and takes place in a world and time period very similar to said books, but the author was only 15 when he wrote it, which is kind of cool. A boy named Eragon (go figure) comes across a strange-looking stone that turns out to be a dragon egg. This automatically makes him a "Dragon Rider". He can communicate telephathically with his dragon and make things move with his mind... okay, so it's a total rip-off of The Dragon Riders of Pern mixed with Star Wars, but pre-teen boys usually don't care about that kind of stuff, and they would still enjoy it. Even girls will enjoy this book, if you get it for them. This book also has two sequels "Eldest" and "Brisingr" (pronounced Brih-zing-er.) I'm seeing a trend here...

Holes by Louis Sachar -- This book is good for boys and girls alike. In "Holes", a boy named Stanley Yelnats III is sent to a Camp Green Lake(a "camp" for juvenile delinquent boys, and an alternative to jail) for stealing a pair of shoes. (In actuality, Stanley was framed for "stealing" the shoes when they hit him on the head as he was walking under a bridge.) At Camp Green Lake, boys are made to dig holes in the hot sun all day (5 feet wide and 5 feet deep). It is soon made very obvious that the warden of the camp is looking for something, using the boys as her own personal diggers. As you can probably guess, the point of the story is to find the treasure, but also a quest to end the curse of bad luck that has plagued the Yelnats family for generations. It is a FANTASTIC book. One of the best I've ever read, and it remains one of my favorite books of all time.

Number the Stars by Lois Lowry -- This is kind of an obscure one, but one that should be pointed out because of that. This book takes place in World War II, where ten year old Annemarie Johansen and her best friend Ellen Rosen live in Nazi-occupied Denmark. The only problem is that Ellen is Jewish. In order to protect her, the Johansens take Ellen into their home to pretend she is part of their family. But in order to keep the rest of the Rosens safe, Annemarie has to partake in a very dangerous mission. It's a historical fiction novel that could get a pre-teen interested in that time period and aware of the Nazi prejudice against Jews, but doesn't deal with any of the really intense parts of World War II such as the Holocaust or the bombings. It's rather short, but good for a younger sort of reader.

Riding Freedom by Pam Munoz Ryan -- This books was read to my entire class by our teacher in fifth grade, but still remains in my memory has one of the best books ever. It's based on the true story of Charlotte Darkey Parkhurst. It takes place in the mid-1800s, where an orphaned tomboy named Charlotte has a distinct love for horses. It follows her story as she poses as a man, becomes a legendary horse rider and stagecoach driver, and the first woman to ever vote. It's fantastic, and good for both boys and girls, but maybe for a slightly younger age, such as 8-12.

Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan -- Another book read to my class in fifth grade, very good book. This takes place in early 1920s Mexico, where a girl named Esperanza lives on her family's ranch as the spoiled, pampered only child. But when her father dies, she and her mother are forced to flee to California and work as farmers. Obviously, this pisses of Esperanza, and she doesn't go into this new life quielty. But when her mother falls ill, she has to rise above her differences and face her new life. This is a great, inspirational story for girls, but I'm pretty sure boys would enjoy it too.

The Watsons Go to Birmingham, 1963 by Christopher Paul Curtis -- This is more of a comedic book following the life of a fictional family during actual events. When a semi-dysfunctional family decide to visit their grandmother in southern Birmingham, Alabama, they witness one of the darkest moments in the Civil Rights Movement. It's a fantastic book with great messages, as it is told all through the eyes of a young boy, but it's a wonderful historical fiction book. (Yeah, we read this in 5th grade too...)

Fever, 1773 by Laurie Halse Anderson -- Another great historical fiction book that's set during the Philadelphia yellow fever epidemic. The main character is a girl named Matilda who must witness the death of many of her close friends and relatives as she struggles to fight for her life out of yellow fever. It's really exciting and suspenseful, because you never know if she's going to catch it or not... it's really good.

Alright, well that's all I'm going to write about today. I didn't realize there were so many books I liked. I know the whole "This book is really good" thing got repetetive, but I was running out of creative adjectives. Just trust my judgement, okay? Love and hugs.

Twilight vs. Harry Potter, BEGONE!

That's right, ladies and gentlemen. I think it can now be fully said that I fully do enjoy Twilight.

For those of you who are going . . . "Yeah....Why? Are we supposed to care?"

Well, you don't have to, but I figured I'd just come out and say it.

I first read Twilight when I was 14, and I thought it was okay, but actually never QUITE finished it. Then a few months ago, I was going to a bridal shower for some distant cousin, and figured I would be bored, so (since Twilight was starting to get really popular) I figured I should try and get through it this time, as I had enjoyed what I had already read. I finished Twilight in a week, and New Moon in exactly one week following. (Which, other than Harry Potter, was the fastest I'd ever read a book [at least, the length that Twilight was]). Eclipse took me a bit longer, but mostly because I had school, and I had homework, ya know? A life, as some people call it.

But, my raging Harry Potter obsession got really aggressively territorial. It didn't like that this "Twilight" thing was getting so popular, claiming that it was "The New Harry Potter". The young, hip, romantic version that would soon kick Harry off into oblivion. (Megan, I know you're dying with the nerdiness of this post. DEAL WITH IT!)

It took me a while to get over it. I was sort of pissed that Twilight was so popular. Actually, it wasn't even that it was popular. It was that people actually believed that it was better than Harry Potter. THIS comment made me shoot out some pretty nasty commentary on the books, writing and plots. (Truthfully, I still don't like Bella, even though I desperately want to. She's selfish and unbelievably snobby.)

But, now I have finally figured out that it's not worth my energy trying to dumb down the Twilight fandom. Twilight is and will never be the empire of Harry Potter, and Harry will stand the blow of time, while Twilight might very well dwindle into one of those old dusty "Nancy Drew" type series' that you find in the back of the teen section. (I hope it doesn't . . . it's pretty good for what it is, considering Anne Rice did the same thing like 50 years ago.)

So, I have changed the background picture on my YouTube account from a picture of Harry and Hermione in the Goblet of Fire, to a picture of the Cullens. I know, scary. . . never thought I'd do it! I also bought myself a Twilight keychain when I went to the bookstore today to buy The Tales of Beedle the Bard (will blog about that later), which would be considered the highest form of blasphemy, like, two months ago.

So . . . yeah. If you want to see it, here it is.

London to . . . Russia?

In this fantastic video of Kristin Stewart on David Letterman, Kristin Stewart (who plays Bella Swan in the new Twilight film) expresses her desire to take a road trip from London to Russia after her Europe press conference, which would be FANTASTIC . . . if Edward could fly her and her car across the OCEAN that separates the two countries.

Even David Letterman tried to save her by saying, "Let's hope (you go) from Berlin." But, lovable as she is, Kristin had to say (behind a chorus of a cheering/laughing crowd) that she preffered London and hoped she could start from there.

Ah, man. The girl seems nice enough, but really . . . it's pretty obvious that you really haven't been studying up. Well, Kristin more power to ya. Actually... a LOT more power. Like... a jet pack and snorkel and a pair of dolphins for her to ride on the back of so she can get to the nearest French coastline.

(I would have felt bad for her, that it was an honest mistake, had it not sounded like it had been pre-planned, like most trips are.)
